Saturday afternoon empty thoughts

While we wait for practice to finish, allow me to do some housekeeping. Actually, I could stand to do some literal housekeeping, as I've still got boxes to unpack and rooms to organize in my new house. But I mean the blog, Georgia football-beat kind of housekeeping.

It's been a whirlwind first week, and I apologize for not being able to answer all your questions on the blog. In the future I'm going to try to answer every one I can, but this week it's been tough.

So, in no particular order, a few answers to a few questions that have been posted, as well as a few comments I may be repeating, but hey, it's my blog:

- I do appreciate all the kind words, as well as the constructive criticism. I will always welcome both.

- I know a few of you miss the movie and TV comments that were a staple of this blog. Believe me, I'll be getting to that. So far I've just been trying to get situated, both at work and at home.

But allow me to ask this: I'm catching up on the third season of "Mad Men," which is undeniably good, but I understand that I really need to get to "Breaking Bad," while a few of you have also affirmed my curiosity in "Battlestar Galactica." Sadly, however, I only have one Netflix subscription. So if anybody out there has an opinion on how I should prioritize things, I'm all ears.

- A couple people have complained about a lack of opinions, or other insight, so far. Allow me to remind you - not to be a broken, broken, broken, broken record - but it's my first week. I felt it was important to get the lay of the land, and take stock of things, talk to players, coaches, staff members and so on, and start forming opinions and making analysis from there.

It would be irresponsible to come in here flaming and throwing out ill-informed opinions right away.

- Did I, in fact, quote the early 90s hair group "Nelson" by titling a Friday blog post "After the rain"? ... Yes, sadly, that might have been the inspiration. I never claimed to be perfect.

- To "Anonymous" and his very long posts ... Whatever makes you happy.

That's all I have for now, and I'm sure I missed a few other questions. But keep firing away.

Nelson. Awesome. You'll do just fine. Because once something has been bad for a long time, it becomes, well, awesome.

Welcome aboard, dude.

Glad to have you here. Losing Hale will hopefully result in more wins ;)

As you unpack, just smile and have a beer for every item you realize you didn't need.

Seth, you should immerse yourself in the legend of Wooten 'Da Ball Carriah' which we have grown to love around here and add to all mentions of Wooten.

"Da Ball Carriah sits out today with a knee..."

Seth,

You need to get started on your beer card at Pauley's. I believe Hale finished his in one monthish or so. then proceeded to finish the card right after he got married. I think you can beat that. Best of luck.

Also, thank you for reassuring us that the opinions are coming...I'll look forward to hearing yours. Go Dawgs

Breaking Bad is the best show on television with the possible exception of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Seth,

Alan Sepinwall rates "Breaking Bad" and "Mad Men" as the best dramas on TV, with "Sons of Anarchy" a close third. Nothing else is in their ballpark until "Boardwalk Empire" debuts next month.

Finish season 3 of "Mad Men" as soon as you can so you can follow along with season 4.

If you have time, which it doesn't sound like you do, I would watch seasons 1 and 2 of "Sons of Anarchy" before the third season starts in early September.

Watch "Breaking Bad" as soon as possible, but the third season DVD likely won't be available for another 6 months or so when season 4 starts to gear up.

I can't comment on "Battlestar Galactica" beyond the fact that I know Dwight Schrute enjoyed it immensely. Maybe you could try a Tech blog for that one. Just kidding. But no, really, that might be more appropriate for the Dragoncon crowd on North Avenue.

And maybe it's just me, but I've noticed that the people who brag about how little TV they watch usually end up being the most pretentious a-holes.

Seth, Got to say you're doing a fine job with the blog. Keep it up.

I never got into LOST, and despite watching the first ep, I've never really dove into Breaking Bad either. So in the interest of talking about TV I do watch -- and in the interest of something you can get caught up to real-time fairly soon -- I vote for Mad Men. Can't wait for an inevitable "Which Mad Men character is each SEC coach?" post. Or some comparison of over-signing to Don Draper's love life...

If you do decide on watching Breaking Bad, you will catch up on all 3 seasons in a weekend. It's that good.

TV: Rubicon - just launched last week so there's not a lot of catching up. Conspiracy theory to the max, and when people die they don't just get shot, they get smashed by high speed trains.

Seth, Glad to see you here...I am from Albany, and I remember reading you in the good ol' Albany Herald when I would triumphantly return to the Good Life City to visit my parents. Not too shabby if I remember correctly.

As far as Netflix goes, if you have a PS3, Wii, or x-box, Netflix will send you a DVD to insert in said machine. With this magical DVD, you will be able to stream thousands of movies and T.V. seasons. The kicker.....this is FREE with your 9 dollar, 1 DVD at a time subscription! Enjoy.

I look forward to great things from the Dawgs and this blog this season. GATA!
