Quick practice update

A few notes after taking in the early portion of Georgia's second practice of the day:

- Inside linebacker Richard Samuel (some sort of leg injury) has joined the ranks of the men in green. The reserve junior was biking alongside fellow ILB Akeem Dent (toe surgery) and WR Rantavious Wooten (sprained left knee). We'll have an update on Samuel after practice.

- Defensive end Brandon Wood also has a new injury. He was in a non-contact green jersey, but was working with his unit.

- Reserve senior strong safety Quintin Banks was also sitting out practice, and icing his right leg.

- Just a personal observation on Trinton Sturdivant, who is still in green but working out with the offensive linemen: Sturdivant was limping noticeably going from one drill to another. He appears a long way off from being able to play. But there's still three weeks and change till the opener.

- Walk-on split end Greg Lanier was also in green, but practicing.

The coaches need to let Sturdivant take as long as needed to get back. We have a very very good group that jelled at the end of last year. He would be a great bonus but no reason to rush him back and risk him going down again. If he doesn't play til week 8 that would be fine by me as long as he is still healthy and playing come game 12, the seccg and the bowl game. Plus next year with us graduating 3 linemen this year he will be more important to the team than he would be at any point this year.
