First day of ...

It's a big day here in Athens: First day of football practice, first day of August, and, most importantly, my first day on the job.

Yours truly is still literally unpacking in his new Athens home: I finally closed up shop in Columbia on Sunday, clearing out the old place, and while I'm moved in to the new place in Athens, I'll probably be unpacking boxes until November.

(I'm a pack rat. I still have baseball cards from the mid-1980s. No, really.)

Of course you all don't care about that, you want to know about that whole first-day-of-football-practice thing. Georgia is also holding media day this afternoon, and we'll have full coverage of that and the afternoon practice.

In the meantime, if anybody's interested in a Dennis Rasmussen rookie card, lemme know. I'll give you a great deal.

5thYearSoph said...'s actually the second day of August. Just don't want you to get behind 24 hours on your first day.

A double post on the first day. I can see you are going to be a hard worker.

Welcome aboard, Seth. Looking forward to hanging out with you (in a virtual kind of way, or course) and thanks in advance for what you do for us here on the blog.

I've got plenty of mid-80s baseball cards myself, including a few packs of unopened Topps with the gum still inside (I'm sure it's still good.)

Welcome, Seth.
Bourbon, vodka, gin, or tequila? Guinness, Coors, Stella, or Yuengling?
Blazing Saddles, History of the World, or Young Frankenstein?
Knowshon, Hampton, Hearst, or Musa? (Herschel excluded)
Anne Hathaway, Megan Fox, Keira Knightly, Jessica Alba, or Scarlett Johansson?
These answers tell a lot about a man.

Fascinating quiz, anonymous. I'd take it myself but I got stuck on 1b. I've been stuck on Sierra Nevada Pale Ale for years. #hops

Welcome, Seth. Looking forward to it. I really wish they'd consolidate the two blog sites. It's a pain in the ass trying to keep up with two lines of comments.

Welcome aboard........

I've still got my baseball cards from the late 60's so I guess that makes me really old.

David developed his extremely loyal following with an objective take on the Dogs coupled with idle banter and offbeat humor. Not to add any pressure, but we all have our fingers crossed that you, in your own style, can provide the same.

BTW, with the exception of Anon, who will post a Unabomber length/style manifesto every few days, I think you will find the followers of this column to be highly educated and very reasonable.

Best of luck!!!

Welcome aboard Seth! As an Athens native I'm sure you'll come to love your new home (I miss it a bit more every day).

Looking forward to your coverage and unique angle on the Dawgs.
