Poll dancing

Georgia is out of the AP and coaches polls, released Sunday, making it the first time since 2001 it has not been ranked this early in the season.

Back then, in Mark Richt's first year, Georgia started the season unranked and eventually moved in. Right now the Bulldogs are going in the opposite direction, but have plenty of time to reverse that - especially since its next opponent, Arkansas, is No. 13 in the AP.

Georgia still appeared on 15 ballots in the AP, as high as No. 18. Send your peach baskets and salutations to John Hunt of The Oregonian newspaper.

Among other notable voters putting Georgia in their poll:

- Tom Murphy of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, who covers the Razorbacks, had Georgia No. 21.
- So did SI.com's Andy Staples.
- ESPN analyst Chris Fowler had it 23.
- Travis Haney of the Charleston Post and Courier, who covers South Carolina and just saw Georgia, had the Bulldogs 24.
- Coley Harvey of the Macon Telegraph had the Bulldogs at 25.

Seth,

I was wondering if maybe you could update us on the status of AJs appeal. Have you seen/heard anything new or is it still in the preliminary process of appeal?

More "firsts" for all the wrong reasons.

It's like supertanker in open water going in the wrong direction. Just won't stop.

"Whom covers?" Incorrect. Good lord, man.

Anon - it's a typo. Get over it. Like you never had a typo before. Come on, man.

Anon 5:53, that made me throw up a little bit, too. You're not alone.

It's not a "typo" (a typographical error) if it's used repeatedly in place of the correct usage. A typo is an isolated mistake, generally due to keyboard error. Mistakes due to the author misunderstanding (or simply not knowing) rules of grammar are NOT typos.

"Whom covers" is tantamount to the absurdly frequent mistaken usage of "she and I," "he and I," etc.

Correct: "She and I had dinner last night."

Incorrect: "The game was won by he and I."

On a different note, Seth, thanks for correcting the "whom covers" mistakes once they were pointed out.

Also, sure, I've committed typographical errors.

But I'm not a professional writer, and I generally don't write for an audience larger than two or three other professionals in my field.

Folks, between the blogs and two newspaper articles per day, I probably write between 2,000-3,000 words a day. I appreciate anyone pointing out anything that needs to be corrected, but hopefully you can do it in a helpful manner.
Thanks.

Hey Seth a few convincing wins by the Dawgs and your word choice will go without comment.

I've never seen such whining - if you guys have a problem with Seth as he finds his way why not look elsewhere for your news.

Seth, tell your buddy Coley that he's an idiot. Not that UGA is deserving of a ranking, but he's a blatant GT homer. They looked worse against a terrible team and in no way deserve to be ranked after week 2.

You guys all sound like a bunch of dicks! Correcting grammar! Seth hears very few words that must leave him with confidence in these comments! Almost all you guys! Way to stick with your bulldogs, and way to stick with the bulldog blog writer! It's like everyone is always looking for negative things to complain about!
