Two out of three ain't bad, for now
A.J. Green was practicing like normal on Monday. But the status of the Georgia receiver remains unresolved.
Georgia didn’t get any word from the NCAA – not surprising since it was a holiday – and Green’s quarterback said he was as in the dark as anybody.
“It’d be nice to have him back out there,” Aaron Murray said after practice. “He’s definitely chomping at the bit to get back out there. I don’t know anything that’s going on. But it’d be nice just to get it done with and get it out of the way and let him get out there and start making some plays for us.”
Murray and Green didn’t get much of a chance to work together on Monday, since the team practiced in shells. From what Murray could tell, Green didn’t look any different.
This wasn’t any different from last week in practice either.
“He’s the same old A.J., doing his thing, working hard,” Murray said. “I didn’t get to work too much with the receivers because it was such a short practice, but I was watching and looking over while they were doing drills, and he was going full-speed, working hard, it looked like. So he just wants to get out there and go play.”
Murray will have at least two of his weapons back – No. 2 receiver Tavarres King and tailback Washaun Ealey are both off suspension.
Ealey was arrested 10 days ago on three misdemeanors stemming from hitting a parked car. He said he had his registration taken care of now – another part of the charges.
As for how much he’ll play Saturday, and whether he’s back in the good graces of the coaches, he wasn’t sure.
“Right now I don’t know what my standing is with the coaches, but hopefully I’ll get back on their good side,” Ealey said.
King said it was “really tough” not being able to play in the opener.
“You walk into Sanford Stadium and you’re not dressed. You’re not in pads,” King said. “You see your teammates getting ready for a game that you should’ve been in. But it was extremely tough but I’m glad I’m back this week.”
More on King, Ealey and Green in Tuesday’s papers.

Did you mean Ealey instead of King for that last part? Just checking.
No, he meant Tavarres King... the reciever. Not Caleb King the running back. What he said was correct.
For the love of God, Seth Emerson, are you going to follow-up on the whole AJ Green ebay story or non-story? Has every UGA beat writer in the state lapsed into a coma?
David, I'll refer you to my Sunday post, when I wrote I've heard all the rumors, including that one, and if and when I have enough to publish something, I will. This isn't TMZ.
We really need Washaun. CK4 looks like Richard Samuel redux. I think Ealey has better field vision and btw the tackles toughness than King. Caleb seemed like he couldn't find holes or get yards after contact on all his rushes besides the touchdown. Also can you explain who plays the mike, who plays the mo and who is expected to play given an injury or two. Venn diagram helpful, but not necessary.
err i meant who is trained and expected to play either mike or mo depending on injury situation.
Seth, this is a blog, not the newspaper.
If you aren't going to address the big, potentially team crushing rumors, then what's the point here?
We've all read the ebay rumor. Its all over the place. Tell us what you've read, what you've heard, explain what it would mean if he was guilty of such a thing, how reliable the rumor sources are, what you have done to investigate the rumor, etc.
Otherwise this blog is nothing but a weak extension of a bad newpsper.
David Hale would have been giving us some info on this.
Michael:
1) This is a blog that supplements a newspaper coverage. The journalistic standards are the same. I don't drop them just because this is a blog. If it's not good enough for the paper, it's not good enough for the blog.
2) The rumors you mention are not "everywhere." They are not in other reputable media outlets, at least not yet. They are on message boards and comment areas like these.
3) I understand the hunger for information. Believe me, I'm frustrated too, trying to chase the story. When there's information to report, I will. Trust me.
Hey, David and Michael, why don't you go crawl back under the rock or into the swamp you emerged from. If you want rumors and hearsay then go read the AJC or listen to Joe Schad. Otherwise, shut up.
Good for you, Seth. Stick to your guns. Good journalism may not grab everybody's attention up front, but it will on the back end (and it earn their respect along the way).
Keep up the good work, Seth. Most of us appreciate your commitment to high journalistic standards!
That a boy Seth. Hey I just wanted to post a quick though and get everyone's opinion. I'm just as tired as anyone of the off-field problems and arrests. I was reading an AJC article where Schultz completely blamed Richt for everything. Now I'm not ready to completely absolve Richt but really? He can't baby sit these guys 24/7. When the son of a preacher gets hooked on drugs and ruins his life, is it is father's fault? I think not. Like I said, I'm not completely absolving Richt, but at the same time I don't think its fair for people like Jeff Schultz that don't know squat about football to completely throw all the blame at Richt's feet.
Sean: "If it's not good enough for the paper, it's not good enough for the blog."
Wow. You know the internet is more than just a series of tubes right?
If you really don't understand the difference between print and online, why bother? Seriously.
Re-read what I wrote. From all of these potentially options, you can't write on any of them? "Tell us what you've read, what you've heard, explain what it would mean if he was guilty of such a thing, how reliable the rumor sources are, what you have done to investigate the rumor, etc."
Anonymous Coward:
"Hey, David and Michael, why don't you go crawl back under the rock or into the swamp you emerged from."
At least I have the guts to post with an actual name, coward.
If you go to a blog to complain about what isn't on that blog ... then you might need to get a life.
Start your own blog so you can put whatever you want on it!
If you want Seth to dig a bit into a rumor then send him the rumor along with some sort of facts that he can start with. For example, find a link to the jersey auction.
"Hey, David and Michael, why don't you go crawl back under the rock or into the swamp you emerged from."
Is that better, Michael?
Now, as I was saying, shut the hell up and go back to reading the AJC or Joe Schad's tweets.
Todd: "Now, as I was saying, shut the hell up"
Oh no. Internet Warriors talking tough!
