Party in the UGA
Uh oh, the "Party in the UGA" video is now hitting the Huffington Post.
Here's a link.
Coach Mark Richt, who makes about a two-second cameo on the video, was asked about it after Wednesday's practice. That led to thee revelation that Richt had also filmed a cameo in another video, some take on Ghostbusters, the details of which were not clear. Confusion abounded in the room. Eh, it happens.
Anyway, you can see the "Party in the UGA" video - which Huffington Post called "cringe worth" - on the above link.
By the way, who is this Miley Cyrus everyone is talking about?
(Kidding.)

I can't believe this thing has gone so viral. I mean of course it is stupid, but it is equally as stupid to watch the whole thing. Also it is not the least bit humorous. Even if it was another school, I would not waste my time making fun of something so insignificant.
This video is what happens when the admissions requirements get raised. Losers invade. Sad
I was hopeful we'd get quality reporting that UGA fans want to read from the new guy on this blog. That hope is starting to fade.
yeah, take that!
The video is embarrassing. Richt should be fined. The admission coordinator who authorized the filming should be fired. The kids who participated in it should be expelled from school.
I get that you want to create excitement for school for incoming freshman during orientation.
I understand that administrators want to put the kibosh on the "party" school image.
But do not want the incoming freshman to think that made their collegiate decision that will make them feel more mature and grow them beyond their high school years. They want to show something to their friends that will make their school seem cool. That will make their friends envious.
"Party in the UGA" is lame on all accounts. It does not even qualify as funny in a parody sort of way.
It looks like something a high school guidance counselor would greenlight. Is there a self-respecting 18 year-old in this world who honestly is amped up to listen to a knock-off of a song by a Disney channel princess and hero to the "tween" set?
I realize that you just started this job, but you really need to step it up. So far, your blogs have been lackluster.
Oh, Scott, you are SO right. Seth -- please march right out onto that field and demand that someone make news. Right now! Stamp your feet if you must, just like little Scottie. After all, it's already the first Thursday of practice. One-a-days. In early August. Your 3-4 posts per day thus far in this super exciting Dawgs news cycle need to step up, doncha know? As an example, what kind of car was Dexter Morant holding the keys to? Were AJ's catches over his right shoulder or left? Inquiring minds, and all that...
Seriously, Seth -- thanks for the updates. Longtime true fans of the blog appreciate your multiple posts a day on multiple topics.
The biggest problem with this is the fact that they played this song (the Miley Cyrus version, not the admissions version) at Sanford Stadium during halftime against Kentucky.
That should have been the last time it was allowed anywhere near campus.
Kathleen- They played it just about every game day during the pre-game music. Sometimes twice. Ugh.
I remember thinking at half time wow, no wonder the wheels fell off of the team.
Any football news?
EDSBS had this three days ago. I guess I need to check Florida blogs for insider perspective on the Dawgs. The "anonymous" post in response to Scott was awful defensive. You're right, anonymous, there's nothing better to report on than orientation videos. I mean, there's nothing new about the team this year.
The Huffington Post has an opinion on UGA's student orientation video.
Okey Dokey.
"I ain't gettin' enough football news!", "How many spirals did Parker Welch throw in practice today?"....you guys just need to calm down. I like you, Seth.
Really? You guys are bashing the guy for not giving any new news? Seth, you are doing awesome so far. I appreciate you reporting on things other than football. Random all around UGA blogging is great! It is hard keeping up with everything now that I don't live in Athens anymore (hopefully going back eventually). I love this blog and it gives me something to read throughout the day when I need a quick read. Keep it up and ignore the losers - aka the anonymous posters. You will eventually get used to it. They are just hating on you because you are the new guy.
Thanks for being here. I really appreciate it.
Dang Seth. You been here three days and already the Finebaum cronies have you on the hot seat!
In all seriousness, keep up the good work. You have got big shoes to fill but do what you do well. It will all work out.
That song is this generations MMMBop.....everybody claims it sucks, then sings and dances along to it.
Much better crowd response to that song at the Kentucky game than the Macarena debacle of 96
