Travis Leslie nearing a decision

Georgia basketball star Travis Leslie is close to a decision on whether to enter his name in the NBA draft, and may have made it already.

The Georgia junior was due to speak to head coach Mark Fox on Monday, according to Leslie's high school coach, who added that Leslie was tentatively planning an announcement for Wednesday.

Phil McCrary, who coached Leslie at Columbia High School, said he didn’t know which way Leslie was leaning.

“Travis is a very mature person. He kept everything in consideration,” McCrary said. “He’s not one of those kids who always rushes into a decision. He’s one of those kids that evaluates what’s best for himself and what’s the best decision he can make.”

Leslie, a 6-foot-4 swingman, is rated the 30th-best prospect in the nation, according to Draftexpress.com. He averaged 14.4 points and 7.2 rebounds per game this year for Georgia, which got its first at-large NCAA berth in nine years.

Georgia junior forward Trey Thompkins, the team’s leading scorer and rebounder, was also considering whether to enter his name in the draft.

Players have until April 24 to enter the draft, and if they don’t sign with an agent, they can withdraw by May 8 to retain their NCAA eligibility.

I hope he stays, but he's a goner.

you don't have a press conference to announce your staying.

I really hope he stays because I think he could benefit from the leadership experience that he would gain, as well as honing his technique and skill. But I think he leaves.

Also, everyone HAS to read this blog post. Seriously - must read:

Most sources I've read have Leslie as a top 20 NBA draft prospect, no way he passes up the millions to play for a coach that went 3-10 against top 50 rpi teams.

Please name one of your sources that have him top 20 cause no one else has seen that.

Had a bust year though so let him move on. In my book the jury is still out on FOX.

I agree, everything I'v read and heard has Leslie as a top 10 NBA draft pick. He's gonna go get his millions.

He's for sure gone. No need for a press conference otherwise. I wish him all the best. Make that money, honey!

Just to clarify - nowhere did his coach say he was calling a press conference. He just said "announcement." That could still be anything.

My sources say he would be the number 1 pick, but has decided to come back and play Safety for the football team.

Like Seth said, the Press Conference will be broadcast on ESPN.
