Hot off the presses: G-Day rosters
The good folks at Georgia sports information have just passed out the official rosters for Saturday's spring game.
The notables on the Red team (picked by Christian Robinson and Ben Jones:
- Secondary: Sanders Commings (listed at safey), along with safety Mark Deas, cornerbacks Jordan Love and Derek Owens.
- Outside linebackers: Cornelius Washington and Jarvis Jones. The inside linebackers, besides Robinson, are all walk-ons.
- Defensive line: Derrick Lott, Mike Thornton and Abry Jones.
- The offensive skill spots: Receivers Israel Troupe, Tavarres King and Michael Bennett. Quarterbacks Hutson Mason and Greg Bingham. Tailbacks Caleb King and Carlton Thomas. Fullback Zander Ogletree and tight ends Aron White and Arthur Lynch.
- Offensive line: LT Cordy Glenn, LG Kenarious Gates, Ben Jones, RG Ben Reynolds, RT A.J. Harmon.
- And the specialists: Drew Butler (punter) and Brandon Bogotay (kicker).
The coaches: Tony Ball, Will Friend, John Lilly, Todd Grantham, and Kirk Olivadotti.
The notables on the Black team (drafted by Brandon Boykin and Aaron Murray):
- Secondary: Branden Smith, Boykin, Jakar Hamilton, Shawn Williams,
- Linebackers: Alec Ogletree, Richard Samuel, Mike Gilliard, Brandon Burrows and Reuben Faloughi.
- Defensive line: Kwame Geathers, DeAngelo Tyson, Garrison Smith.
- Receivers: Marlon Brown, Rantavious Wooten, Chris Conley, Orson Charles at tight end.
- Christian LeMay backs up Murray at quarterback.
- Tailbacks: Washaun Ealey, Ken Malcome and walk-on star Brandon Harton. Fullback: Bruce Figgins.
- Offensive line: Justin Anderson, Dallas Lee, Chris Burnette, Brent Benedict, Kolton Houston.
- Specialists: Blair Walsh (kicker), Adam Erickson (punter.)
The coaches: Mike Bobo, Bryan McClendon, Rodney Garner, Scott Lakatos.
The first impression is that the Black team is a bit better, or at least it has more starters. Then again, it also has two players who sat out the spring with injuries (Dexter Morant and T.J. Stripling), another who has retired with injuries (Jeremy Longo) and Trinton Sturdivant.
NOTE: The original list provided by UGA had the coaching staffs mixed up; they were transposed. It's been fixed and what you see above is correct.

You spelled Drew butler wrong.
Anon 6:45 - Troll Harder
Anon 6:45 needs to learn more about the art of trolling. You're not supposed to be so damn obvious about it.
My word verification was fattoy.
Oh yeah, Seth now deletes all comments that disagree with him.
Wow, talk about hearing 1 side of issues.
You're right, Seth does have a tendancy to delete comments.
Wierd for someone that has a blog asks for comments.
I'll be notifying the Macon paper if it continues, this is ridiculous.
Grantham outcoaches Bobo for the win.
Mr. Aaron Murray-basher, as I've said before, you've made your point on Murray enough times, and it's time for you to move on. If he throws five interceptions in the spring game, I'll stop deleting your comments about him. In the meantime, they detract from what should be a constructive, civil discussion.
Red team has some great receivers in King & Bennett. Black team has Ealey & Charles.
Ok guys, no more negative comments about Murray allowed here. Or positive comments about Mason.
Awwww. BuLLLLLLLLLLLLLdawg gets banned from another board.
You've still got the AJC! And probably will forever; that dying rag needs you for web hits.
Annoying anon hater... nobody has a problem with Mason, they have a problem with your rants about starting players on the team.
By the way, its pretty damn funny seeing the murray-hater get his feelings hurt. It's like he was on this high horse, complaining about this and that, and now he has no more voice on the matter. And best yet, everyone loves Seth for it. Thank you, Seth. It is truly appreciated.
Ok, off of that topic...
Does anyone have a problem w/ the fact that both of our nose tackles are on the same team?! How is that team going to run a 3-4 defense with Tyson and Geathers on the same team?
I think the anon murray hater has posted 7-8 comments on this thread. Please look at Anon 6:45 (Deleted), Anon 8:35, Anon 8:37, Anon 8:45, Anon 8:52, Anon 9:23.
All the same person. What a stalker. Seth, hide yo' wife, hide yo' kids.
Inside linebackers & d-line look strong on black team. Red team will have a hard time running the ball.
It will be stronger OL (Red) with backup QB going against stronger DL, ILB, DBs. The weaker OL (Black)will have the starting QB, FB going against the weaker DL and ILB but the stronger OLBs.
At this point, I might be scared of the OL if I were Murray. He could have difficulty finding time to throw with the good OLBs getting a decent rush. (which will create more annoying anonymous posts) However, they could have luck running up the middle behind Figgins and quick passes to Charles over the middle due to a somewhat weaker DL and ILB group.
Mason should get better protection but will be against a pretty decent defense. The good opposing DL/ ILB could hold off the rushing game and pit Mason vs the starting DBs.
In summary, I'd pick Black to be more successful running the ball and Red to be more of a passing team.
Maybe there are more articles about Murray because he is the STARTER.
According to Richt, there are no starters, it's an open competition, and the person who performs best over Spring & Summer will win the job.
Some fans are done with Murray, others love him, some like Ealey, some prefer King. it's what makes blogs fun.
Actually, according to my records going back 10 years, if Mason throws 1 more td, he will have achieved the best Spring of any QB in the last decade, if not in UGA history.
Nothing to snuff at. Even future JUCO National Championship QB Mettenberger only threw 5 td's over 3 Spring games. Mason's at 5 over 2 Spring games.
I'd expect more articles about this phenom Mason than I'm seeing. Hutson Mason is having the best spring of any UGA QB in a decade, perhaps ever.
I wish Mr. Aaron Murray-basher would go away! Stop posting...nobody wants to hear from you anymore.
