A look at where the Bulldogs - from Green to Durham - might get drafted

A.J. Green and Akeem Dent have been hanging around Georgia football practice the last week or so. Based on one projection, there's a lot of money to be had in that pairing later this month - and not just for Green.

Pro Football Weekly has put together a comprehensive draft chart that ranks players from the top of the draft all through the seventh and final round. And it's fairly easy to read too.

Green, the star receiver, is listed as an early first-round pick, to no one's surprise. The latest projection by ESPN's Todd McShay has Green going fourth overall to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Next up is Justin Houston, who is projected as a late first-round pick. That's also not far off from the usual predictions for Houston, who can play outside linebacker or defensive end.

Clint Boling is projected for the late second-round. The former Georgia player is ranked as the 11th-best offensive line prospect.

Then there's Dent, who led Georgia in tackles last season, and ranked second in the SEC in that category. He hasn't received much mention, but Pro Football Weekly projects him as a late third-round pick. That sounds about right; Dent has good size for the position, and showed he could make tackles in the nation's top league. That should count for something.

Kris Durham is also projected to be drafted by the chart, despite not getting an invite to the NFL combine. He was put in the late sixth-round area of the draft.

If all happens as the magazine projects, it would rate out to a pretty normal draft for Georgia.

Five times since 1999, the program has had multiple first-round picks.

And having five players drafted (Green, Houston, Boling, Dent, Durham) would be in line with past years:

2010: LB Rennie Curran (3), DT Geno Atkins (4), S Reshad Jones (5), DT Kade Weston (7), DT Jeff Owens (7).
2009: QB Matt Stafford (1), RB Knowshon Moreno (1), WR Mohammed Massaoqui (2), CB Asher Allen (3), DT Corvey Irvin (3), Jarius Wynn (6).
2008: DE Marcus Howard (5), RB Thomas Brown (6), OT Chester Adams (7), K Brandon Coutu (7).
2007: DE Quentin Moses (3), DE Charles Johnson (3), TE Martrez Milner (4), T Ken Shackleford (6).
2006: CB Tim Jennings (2), TE Leonard Pope (3), G Max Jean-Gilles (4), DB Greg Blue (5), DB DeMario Minter (5), DT Kendric Golston (6), QB DJ Shockley (7).
2005: LB Thomas Davis (1), LB David Pollack (1), LB Odell Thurman (2), WR Reggie Brown (2), WR Fred Gibson (4), QB David Greene (3).
2004: TE Ben Watson (1), S Sean Jones (2), DE Robert Geathers (4), DB Bruce Thornton (4).
2003: DT Jonathan Sullivan (1), T George Foster (1), T Jono Stinchcomb (2), LB Boss Bailey (2), RB Musa Smith (3), LB Tony Gilbert (6), RB JT Wall (7).
2002: DE Charles Grant (1), LB Will Witherspoon (3), DB Terreal Bierria (4), TE Randy McMichael (4), FB Verron Haynes (5), DB Jermaine Phillips (5), , DB Tim Wansley (7), DE Josh Mallard (7).

Who really cares about the has beens at UGA. I wanna know when this team and program will when a MNC. It been 40 years now since we've won the big prize. Guys like Stafford, Moreno AJ and MoMass didn't win a darn thing while at UGA.

oops.. will "win" a MNC

I see that the math fairy let Anon at 141 down.

2011-1980 = 40?

However, in spite of the fuzzy math, your point is taken.

More "oops". Check your math.

Good know the trolls care so much about UGA.

While your point is taken Anon 1:41, that is has been far too long since a NC, your delivery sucks.

Never, ever hate on a fellow bulldog. They are not "has beens" - they are Dawgs - brethen. Just like a Marine would never hate on a fellow Marine. You are a Marine for life. You should be a Dawg for life as well.

Quite hatin' man.

"Quit" not "quite". My bad.

I hate fans who act like just because a Dawg player didn't win a national championship or even and SEC championship they are failures!!!!

Stafford and Moreno are far from being failures! Stafford won 9,11, and 10 games while he was here. Pretty good to me. Look through our history and tell me how many Ga QB's had better careers while at UGA. That list will be pretty short.

I am the most die hard Dawg fan most people would ever meet but we have basically just won one national championship during most of our lifetimes. We will win another eventually but our history is not that of a school that's wins tons of championships.

Just because someone did not win a national championship or an SEC championship they are not a failure. Do you guys really think Buck Belue was a better QB then Stafford just because he won a championship?

There are tons of great Dawg fans out there but it seems the most delusional ones are on the net.

Guys, this post is about the upcoming draft and our Dawgs potentially going to the NFL. Let's wish these young men well and hope they get drafted! GOOO DAWGS!!!

I agree, 30 years or 40 years its still been a damn long time. I would also say its not the players fault its these damn choke artist coaches we have. These clowns haven't been able to get it done while other SEC schools are bringing home the trophies.

UGA is in pretty damn good company over the past 30 years. Carping on and on about not getting another MNC is a dubious endeavor.

There have been 30 MNC since UGA last won it all - so that means there have been HUNDREDS of teams that didn't. Get a life..........

I'm gonna miss ole KD. Go Pro Dawgs!

KD will have a very long and productive career if he goes to the right team.

Wow, 5 NFL draft picks on his team, 2 NFL WR's, and Richt couldn't win 7 games, or beat a winning team, for goodness sakes, even lost to Colorado.

What about Chapas? He was on the chart.

Dawgfan17 said...

Wow if winning a title is the only thing to judge a player by, then Heart, Ward, Greene, Pollack and lots of other Dawgs we should just forget about too.

Ahem...

I count 6 on that board...

Shaun Chapas in the early 6the round...
