Tuesday Wrap Up

A few bits of news and notes from Tuesday's practice and media session:

-- At least half the players coming in from practice today were visibly sore. Coaches had the Dawgs running today in preparation for Central Michigan's spread offense.

-- Head coach Mark Richt spent some time discussing Central Michigan QB Dan LeFevour during his news conference, comparing LeFevour favorably to Tim Tebow. Richt even went so far as to say the game this Saturday would serve as a good warm-up for the defense for Georgia's matchup against Florida in October.

-- Not surprisingly, few players seemed too concerned with Georgia's drop in the polls.

-- Covey Irvin will be a defensive captain this week. I think that's a good sign of support from the coaching staff. Another interesting note from Rodney Garner: Irvin was actually scheduled to start last Saturday's game instead of Geno Atkins, but the starting job was pulled after Garner was unhappy with Irvin's final practice sessions of the week.

-- Richt praised the blocking of the WRs during last Saturday's game, while WRs coach Mike Eason said Kris Durham was nearly perfect in his blocking.

-- Richt said it was not certain Clint Boling would start in his return to action this Saturday, but it was likely. He was less certain about who would be the starting left tackle -- Kiante Tripp or Josh Davis. I find it hard to believe Tripp would lose his starting job after one week, however.

-- Kenneth Harris remains questionable for Saturday's game. Jeremy Lomax (turf toe) and Kris Durham (shoulder) are both probable.
