Tweets from last night

In case you missed it, Wednesday proved to be a eventful non-event.

First, WSB reported that sources said A.J. Green had decided to go pro. Then, a few minutes after midnight on this here East Coast, Green himself tweeted: “Idk (I don’t know) where these ppl got that I’m going pro. This is def. not true.”

He added a short time later: “Haven’t even made a decision yet!”

(Aaron Murray was also up after midnight, replying to Green’s first tweet with: “Heard your coming back to win a Heisman haha.”)

So what do we make of all this? Nothing, really. Everyone still assumes Green will go pro, but it’s at the point now where the next, and probably final, thing we’re waiting to hear is Green saying it himself.

In other news, I had a wonderful dinner at a Lebanese restaurant up here in D.C. I had the lamb stew. Then I kicked butt at darts. Now I’m having some wonderful cinnamon toast cooked up by my sister.

I’ll be sure to keep everyone updated.

Speaking of tweets Seth...what's the status of your new twitter account?

Twitter account isn't new, just switched back to my name.

This is a situation where Green wants to be the one who tearfully says he's leaving ga and wsbtv took a situation that everyone already knows the answer to and acted like they had inside info on it. No matter when Green says he's leaving they were the first to report it.

Btw I have some inside news that Andrew Luck is leaving early. You heard it here first. Watch he will leave after the season and I will be the first one to tell you he left early. I can't lose reporting news like this!

Seth, why aren't your tweets showing up on the blog?

Sorry, just realized they weren't. I fixed it, so my wit and wisdom now shows up here. Thanks for alerting me.

Anybody else see where Pryor and a bunch of other Buckeyes were suspended by the ncaa for the first five games of next season for selling there BigTen Championship rings and other football related stuff?

Very similar to what Aj Green got for selling his jersey. Only Green sold his jersey to someone who was considered an agent. Don't know who the Buckeyes sold there stuff to.

It will be interesting to see if a big ten team like Ohio State will get treated more favorably by the NCAA than Ga was with the Aj Green situation. I'm sure Ohio State will appeal.

With this news I wouldn't be surprised if Pryor just went ahead and entered the NFL draft. Ohio State already has one of the top QB recruits in the nation in Baxter so they have someone who could play for them next season. I don't know if Pryor would risk the possibility of whoever starts the season at Ohio State being really good and Pryor possibly losing his starting role even when he gets back from suspension.

Btw they get to play in there bcs game though. The NCAA suspension starts next season.

Hey Seth, what pro teams are you rooting for?

Willb, Stewart Mandel wrote a pretty good article about the NCAA's shenanigans if you haven't already seen it. They come across worse and worse every case they encounter.

As a side note, if it's a reasonable market rate, why is it illegal for them to sell their own property? If they can prove that the proceeds received were within an acceptable market range, why not? The schools can sell game worn apparel, but the athletes can't? And that's worse than getting shopping around for several hundred thousand dollars?

Sure would have been nice if AJ could have been suspended for 5 games next season

Just watched Ga's basketball team win again and I decided to do a little basketball research and I stumbled across something I had never thought of before.

Herschel Walker and Dominique Wilkins both attends UGA at the same time. I have never really followed UGA hoops so I never thought of this before.

This must of been the greatest of times to attend UGA as far as sports go! Is there anyone here who went to UGA during this time? If so what was it like?

Georgia basketball 56-53 victory over Mercer on Thursday night was a joke. This basketball team flat out SUCKS! Wait till SEC conf play theyll lose every game. Georgia basketball stinks like the football does.

Victories over Tech and Mercer means we run this state in basketball too.

@Willb: Yeah, I saw it and wrote an article on my blog about it. Check it out at http://sportscrack.blogspot.com/2010/12/big-ten-busted.html. I can't believe the NCAA didn't do more. It's insane that Marcel Dareus gets 2 games, AJ Green gets 4, these guys lie, do about 20 times what Marcel or AJ thought about doing and are hardly what I would call penalized. Such crap. Goes back to my theory that ESPN and the "Little 11" are in some sort of "secret relationship".
