Snowed in ... so let's do a mailbag

ATHENS - Like most everyone in central and north Georgia, any big plans I had for a Monday are shot, thanks to the weather. (Above is the view from my front door, and one dog's take in it - not a white Bulldog, but a black lab.) Not that it's a bad thing: Snow is a wonderful thing, especially when you get it, at best, once a year.

At UGA, the first day of spring semester classes were canceled, and the athletics department is closed too. Some of the football coaches tried to get out of town to recruit on Sunday night and beat the weather, according to spokesman Claude Felton. The Bulldog men's basketball team, meanwhile, may have issues getting to Vanderbilt for its game on Wednesday; head coach Mark Fox said on the SEC teleconference that the team's travel plans may be "severely impacted."

I'm not sure what affect the weather will have on any news: Georgia still has three juniors who have until Friday to declare for the draft. If anything happens, obviously we'll have that to talk about. And we're also waiting too see if Georgia's men's basketball team gets ranked.

There's also the matter of the BCS championship game tonight, but ... Well don't get me started.

In the meantime, let's try to do a mailbag. Send me your questions, either below or via email (semerson@macon.com) and I'll post one as soon as there are enough to do so. Have at it.

Chocolate, blacks or yellows....which Labs do you like best? We have 3 yellow's and 1 black and they love the snow.

Why are we hearing that Boykin and Houston have already made a decision if they have not?

What do you think of Travis Leslie's performance this year? Is he being less aggressive as some have complained, or does it just look that way to the passive fan because he isn't on Sportscenter every night?

Does all that "white" on the ground remind you of your college days?

Does Coach Searels really never grant interviews/questions? Are you aware of anything he's said (substantive or otherwise)regarding the under performance of his unit or the O-line in general? It seems pretty reprehensible to me that he doesn't get taken to task (at least publicly) for his performance as a coach.

With all the blame going around this team and coaches, the indisputable under achievement of the year is the O-line. I mean, there really isn't any excuse for its performance this year, other than coaching(in my opinion).

Do you feel that some of lesser know recruits we have gotten in the past few days is the beginning of the coaches thinking we wont get the higher ranked recruits and they are starting to feel out needs?

Since you covered the Gamecocks last year I have a question. Was the recruitment of Lattimore to the Gamecocks similar to the recruitment of Crowell for us? Did the Gamecock fans view Lattimore as the player who would save the program? Was he a must get prospect in the fans and coaches view in the way Crowell seems to be for us?Also in your opinion how does Crowell compare to Lattimore as far as being an immediate impact player. While they both came from very talented high school teams it looked like Lattimore had to carry a heavier load than Crowell.

Please tell me there were some big name recruits in stegman on Saturday?

Fans going to weekend basketball games up until signing day need to realize these football recruits will be in the house watching the game. The fans need to be going nuts supporting the basketball team. I've got 8 tickets for Miss St, I believe the big Juco NT will be in the house that night.

Erkedrussel dude these are not bad recruits we are getting!

I keep seeing people saying things like this. Like maybe we should of held off on them and see if we could get better players. For one there's maybe 4-5 elite level players we are still going after and we have plenty of room left for them.

Also these are very good players we are getting. I can tell by your comment your putting way too much stock into rivals and scouts ranking system. These are players that were being recruited to play for some big time programs and we got them.Do you know how stupid our coaching staff would of looked if we told these players we didn't want them?

I know you meant this question for Seth so sorry but I felt I had to give my opinion on this subject.

Some S&C questions since that's the only thing we have been told is going to change: What does the football off-season look like for the players? How soon can Joe T's S&C program be implemented- can strength/nutrition coaches work with the players or is it up to them to workout on their own until a specific date? Anybody thinking of joining Orson Charles by training with ROTC (that guy was ready to play every week)?

Seth I was just reading about the Theus kid we signed out of Florida as a long snapper. Upon further reading I see that his younger brother John Theus is going to be the number one offensive tackle next year. A five star player. I also read they want to play with each other in college. So I guess it's a forgone conclusion that he will sign at Ga. Is this a common thing in recruiting? To recruit a big time players family member. I see we did a similar thing with Alec Ogletree. I personally think it is a great idea. I can't remember the last time we got an elite offensive tackle in recruiting.

Seth do you believe that the Bama signing of rb Dee Hart will effect Crowells decision? He is ranked ahead of Crowell in many rankings. Also Bama has Richardson, and Lacy already so immediate playing time at Bama might be hard to come by. This is something I have not seen mentioned in many places but I think this might make Crowell a sure thing at Ga. Any opinions?

I just saw Janorice Jenkins from UF is coming back for his SR. year; Will Hill may be coming back to as Muschamp has a good record of preparing DBs for the NFL. It ALWAYS seems that the UF players come back for their last year of eligibility- what's up w/ the UGA players?

Seth-
Why aren't more questions being asked about how Coach Searels can balance out/complement Pass happy Richt/Bobo in the running game? Until this is addressed can UGA's offense become more dominant (dominant meaning compete with the Malzahns and Petrinos offenses of the S E C)?

Seth-How does it feel now that the "Goalline Stalker" is following you on Twitter? Are you worried that if he doesn't like your writing he will make you drop and give him 1000 push-ups and 1000 sit-ups or else be subjected to two chops to the throat?

Last mailbag I asked the question regarding Noel Johnson transferring from Clemson. Any word where he might land? Also, I was in the stands on Saturday and the Stegasaurus was absolutely rockin'! As far as basketball recruiting is concerned, what impact do you see a regionally televised game like that having on recruits in Georgia who could be looking to attend college outside of the state vs. staying home?

Great looking dog. Labradors are one of the best breeds. Just all around good, loyal, and intelligent. What's the dog's name? How old?

Hope you stay safe, Seth, but can you reverse this curse you and David Hale have brought upon us as of recently?
