Murray has sprained ankle

Yup, no broken ankle for Georgia's starting quarterback. Aaron Murray only has a sprained ankle and "is expected to be ready for spring practice," according to a statement by UGA.

It was reported earlier in the day that Murray had broken his ankle in two places. But Murray's injury, suffered while playing pick-up soccer, didn't turn out to be that serious.

Murray had X-rays taken, which were negative, and an MRI on Monday confirmed a right ankle sprain, the school said.

Athletic trainer Ron Courson said, through a team spokesman, that Murray " would perform rehabilitation under the supervision of the sports medicine staff and is expected to be available for spring practice."

So basically: No big deal. Even if Murray doesn't heal quickly, the first spring practice isn't until March 10, and then the team takes 12 days off (spanning spring break) until its second practice. The G-Day game is April 16.

If this boot helps him to better throw, do you think he'll be wearing it with his gloves this Fall?

Assuming Anon 5:09 is a Tech troll, here is my response:

He could wear two boots, two gloves, an eye patch, and a girdle and steal beat Georgia Tech by 2 touchdowns this year. The worst part is, you know it's true...

Maybe Christian Lemay will get his chance now. Georgia's only hope. Murray's nice kid, but 0-6 against winning teams ain't good enough.

You're an idiot.

I love you clueless folks that pin the losses on Murray. Last time I looked it was a team game.

We're not trolls. We've been sent here by Joe T to toughen these boys up. Next.

"and steal beat Georgia Tech"

OMFG, learn English you morons.

Didnt you report that he hurt his foot, not his ankle, Seth?

Hmmmmmm...

We're not trolls, Paul Johnson's turkey neck told us to do it.

I heard from a friend whose sister goes to UT that it was 1,000 micro-fractures of his cankle.

I'm sorry, Seth.

But unless you get some control over this mess, you're gonna lose your sensible UGA followers.

I know it's only a couple of turds soiling the pool, but I suspect you know just who they are and have the means at your disposal to flush them.

Please do.

seth, most of understand your responsibilities not to silence your critics. keep up the good work and ignore the idiots (i know you do anyway). you've proven a worthy replacement to david hale, and as a serious georgia fan i think thats saying something.

Most of this nonsensical gibberish is likely from GT nerds. I feel sorry for them - they have NOTHING to talk about and their future is bleak at best.

Their entire life is centered around hating UGA - a miserable life indeed.

Being a GT fan is like always bringing the ugliest date to the prom assuming they can get a date.

Agree with others who say this blog is being spoiled by a few kids.

Best do something now or lose it to the good fans.

Gee, strange that I could have called this last week. This is, verbatim, the exact same thing that happened to Paul Westerdawg.

I tried telling Seth this last week, and not only did he DELETE my post (after he harped on about journalistic integrity and not silencing opposing opinions), he SHUT DOWN the thread.

So again, as someone who SUPPORTS your blog and reads it frequently. Get the posts under control. You aren't jeopardizing your career as a former South carolina guy to suddenly beat writer at UGA. Just get it together and you won't lose your readership.

If you don't, then your blog will just be something that gets linked to by the actual UGA blogs like Dawg Sports, that don't let trolls dictate conversations on every board.

And don't feed us that nonsense about this thread/posting isn't part of your job or whatnot...

In this day and age you MUST adhere to the internet's presence in journalism and tend to it. By not allowing these messages to be integral in your process of divulging information to the public, you are severing a leg.

Keep up the good work, for all of us.

Just my 2 cents, as I frequent a few other online forums (that have nothing to do with UGA athletics). There will be trolls anywhere, whether one can post anonymously or even if the troll has to sign up an account. But if you quit feeding the troll, they quickly lose interest. People come here to troll, because it gets a rise out of the passionate readers here.

In any case, if Seth makes it necessary to post under a registered account, what is to stop a troll other than pure laziness?

If have to post under a name you know who are trolls by the name they are using. I mean if someone making constant troll comments can look at his name and know not to listen to anything he says. I don't think anything will change because frankly it is easy to see Seth does
not care.

A couple of things:

One, it requires them to set up an account, so on a base level that might stop it.

And two, Seth can ban accounts permanently, which means problematic posters would keep having to set up new accounts when Seth could easily ban them repeatedly.

But as you say, the main issue is that there are a handful of inexperienced Dawg fans that bite on the bait...every.single.time.

So when someone brings up a moronic statistic or calls out a proven, important player... people love the ability to demean and fire back. Problem is, they are fueling the fire and causing more problems.

With all of this being said, I turn to Seth, the moderator here, to fix the issue. You have other team's trolls coming over here and having a field day because the occasional (or frequent, depending) dumb dawg fan bites on it.

I agree because anonymity allows for complete freedom of recognition or being held accountable... so as we see here and a variety of other places, trolls can run free and feast upon the people who can't distinguish a legitimate comment from a false one.

I'll comment on Murray-

Is it only me?

Why is the star QB allowed to play pick up soccer? I mean I understand the kid is supposed to have a life other than football, but c'mon, he is an elite QB, at an elite school (work with me here) in an elite conference.

The kid should not be playing pick up soccer, BB or any other sport where he can get hurt. Go play some golf or something Aaron...

Is it just me?

1 guy posting that Seth shouldn't allow posts that disagree with him, listen, head over to a commie country bro, where all people agree to agree on everything.

P.S. Posting 1000x under different fake names will nto make you more convincing. Busted!

There's a difference between troll and a different point of view. Triolling is off topic. Points of view being diverse is not trolling.
