Isaiah Crowell is a Bulldog

Georgia got its top recruit, and perhaps its new starting tailback.

Isaiah Crowell of Columbus Carver High School announced on Wednesday he would sign with Georgia, ending one of the most-watched recruiting battles in the country.

Crowell announced the decision live on ESPNU by putting on a black Georgia hat – and then revealing that he had a white English bulldog puppy.

To paraphrase something I just tweeted, it's possible Crowell didn't pick Alabama because he couldn't get a live elephant in the building. Or it's possible Crowell was swayed by the attention he got from Georgia coaches and fans, who serenaded him at a Bulldog basketball team a couple weeks ago.

"Everybody was talking about the dream team, but we had to make it a reality," Crowell said at the announcement.

Crowell also called Mark Richt “a God-fearing dude.”

The tailback is a consensus five-star prospect, and rated as high as fourth overall, by ESPNU.

Georgia's coaches had been targeting Crowell for some time, and especially after last August, when James Wilder opted for Florida State. The focus on Crowell only ramped up when the Bulldogs’ running game sputtered, and tailbacks Caleb King and Washaun Ealey had disappointing season.

Anon, that is the one thing that worries me, in the past rb's haven't gotten on the field as quickly as they might have because of pass blocking. However I have a feeling that Richt knows the offense needs a go to player and that Crowell is that guy and with this being a make or break season for Richt I have a feeling that fewer guys will redshirt this year than any other year Richt has been at UGA.

I really wouldn't be surprised if they delegated a lot of practice time and resources just to absolutely make sure he's ready to get right in and play. The kid seems passionate and very respectful, so that shows me he's ready to get in, learn, and play immediately. Only time will tell though.

Where you at BuLLdawg?

So can we get him enrolled in a safe-driving course, ASAP?

Now Washaun, get after it or this boy will take your job. Don't give up, get after it, both you, Caleb, Malcome, CT and IC!

Put some defense with Crowell and Murray and the bulldogs could take the SEC.
