Green Named SEC's Top Freshman

Georgia receiver A.J. Green was voted the Southeastern Conference s Freshman of the Year by the league s head coaches, it was announced Wednesday.
Green, a native of Summerville, S.C., leads the SEC with 951 yards receiving for an average of 79.2 yards per game. He has hauled in 55 passes including eight touchdowns and is looking to become the first Bulldog to lead the SEC in receiving since Brice Hunter in 1994. He would be the first freshman to lead the league in receiving yards per game since 1999.
Green has already been named AP First Team All-SEC and was one of only two freshmen named All-SEC by the league s coaches. He was also named to Phil Steele s All-SEC team.
The SEC coaches selected Florida s Tim Tebow as Offensive Player of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Tennessee s Eric Berry as Defensive Player of the Year, Florida s Brandon James and Special Teams Player of the Year, Ole Miss Michael Oher for the Jacobs Bocking Trophy, and Vanderbilt s Bobby Johnson and Alabama s Nick Saban as Coaches of the Year.
The SEC All-Freshman Team will be announced Thursday.
