Reid to FSU

It was rumored Florida State was his favorite a few weeks ago. As it turned out, the rumors were true.

Greg Reid committed to Florida State on Tuesday night, putting an end to the mystery for one of Georgia's biggest targets.

We'll have more at Macon.com shortly.

UPDATE: Some notes from the story at Macon.com...

The Lowndes Vikings' star made the announcement at 7:15 p.m. on the WinnersvilleSports.com Radio Report hosted by Mike Davis on Talk 92.1 FM in Valdosta. The announcement was made in front of a packed house at Austin's Cattle Company, a local restaurant.

"(Florida State) felt right for me," Reid said. "They want to win. It felt like it was the right place for me. A lot of coaches were talking about different stuff, like me starting and playing... Florida State basically did the same thing, but they talked about winning."

Reid narrowed down his choices to Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia and Miami (Fla.). On the show, he began taking hats off the table one-by-one every few minutes, narrowed the hats down to Georgia and Florida State, then put on the Florida State hat after teasing the crowd by almost putting on the UGA hat.

"It was the toughest decision I've ever made," Reid said. "I hope none of the coaches at Georgia or Alabama are mad at me. All five schools were real good, but I had to make the best decision for me."

Reid said on Monday night he was 100 percent sure he was going to sign with Alabama, but after talking to his family, he decided it would be best to stay closer to home. He said he called Florida State offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher about five minutes before he showed up to the radio show to tell him that he would be going to Florida State.

It was an emotional decision that went down to the wire, and Reid appeared to be thankful to have the whole process over with as soon as he announced his decision. Immediately after putting on the FSU hat, Reid embraced fellow Lowndes star Gerald Demps, who was on the stage with him. Demps, a safety, will also be attending FSU.

"(Florida State) said when I went down there that they've never had two Lowndes County boys, so we're going to show them what it's about," Reid said.

Well, best of luck to the kid, but as UGA Alum and fan, I vote he made a mistake ;).

D'oh!

Oh well, the kid is a heck of an athelete...

Branden Smith looks just as good, if not better, and has better size.

Hopefully we can land Orson Charles and Marlon Brown.

Brown looks like a grown-ass man.

Go Dawgs!

Wish him the best, but this hat thing is the dumbest thing ever. I can understand putting on the hat of the team you are signing with, but the fake-out thing is really getting on my nerves. And I would say the same thing had he actually chosen the Dawgs.

Hmmm, if winning is his thing it appears he chose the wrong school.
