More Legal Problems For Okie State

Breaking news out of Stillwater: Oklahoma State's starting tight end, Jamal Mosley, has left the team.

Mosley was part of what was expected to be a committee at tight end as the Cowboys hope to replace the production of Brandon Pettigrew.

It's not yet known why Mosley left the team, but according to The Oklahoman, some legal problems could have played a part.

According to documents on the Oklahoma State Courts Network, Mosley was presented with a a restraining order on Thursday that was filed in Payne County court by Kayla Starks. It is unknown whether that situation and Mosley's departure from the team are related.

"Jamal Mosley is leaving our football team for personal reasons," OSU coach Mike Gundy said in a statement. "He has been a good teammate and we wish him the best. We will have no further comment on this matter."

This is the second incident of an Oklahoma State player running into legal trouble in the past 24 hours. It was reported yesterday that starting cornerback Perrish Cox was arrested for driving on a suspended license.

So, let's see... tons of preseason hype, highest ranking in school history, off-field legal problems, talented offense but questionable defense, SI cover jinx... it's almost scary how similar Okie State is to last year's Georgia team.

SI cover is to college football is to Madden cover is to NFL players.

I agree its almost eerie the similarities. However everything we are hearing from cowboy country seems to suggest that Cox won't be getting suspended or any type of team punishment. From what I'm hearing it was a case where he received a traffic citation, and didn't show to court. Thus causing a warrant for his arrest and revocation in his license. Don't know how accurate that is, just what I'm hearing.

I really don't expect him to be suspended for any games, especially for Saturday's. If he played for Richt, you could almost guarantee at least a one game suspension I would think.

Is it just me, or is Richt one of the the stricter coaches when it comes to disciplining his players? He consistently suspends players for infractions, regardless of their status on the team. It just seems like a lot of other coaches across the country use the "Osborne/Bowden" rule when it comes to player suspensions. That is, they'll suspend them for a big game if they're not a starter, or they'll suspend them for a small game if they are a starter.
I have a lot of respect for Richt standing his ground on holding his players accountable, but it's a hard pill to swallow when our opponents aren't doing it. I think, in the long run, it strengthens UGA's program by promoting depth on the field and responsibility off of it.

HamDawg you are right IMHO.

Ham Dawg you are right Richt is one of the more strict coaches but he would not have suspended Cox. I think it was Gamble who had a similar case last year or the year before and there was no suspension. I think he feels that traffic violations are a minor offense. Just like this issue.

Anon -- you are correct, and actually Vince Vance had the EXACT same issue last year. It turned out he was hurt and couldn't play anyway, but Richt would not have suspended him regardless.
