UGA Schedules Evans Press Conference

Georgia will hold a press conference at 6:30 p.m. Damon Evans will be in attendance, although whether or not he'll announce his resignation has not been confirmed.

Follow me on Twitter for details as they happen.

I'll post more here after the press conference.

By the way... I'm getting married in 48 hours and probably could have used this time for other things. But it's a lovely swan song on the Georgia beat.

Marriage is overrated. Tweet frequently please.

Very sad about Damon. He's a great A.D., but I just struggle with how he could continue as our A.D. after this. I hate to say this, but he has to go.

But.. on to better topics.. Congrats on getting married. It's the best thing I ever did with my life (don't listen to anon 3:48!)and you should not be here covering this mess! Best of luck, congrats, etc.!

A way overdue congrats/farewell to you David. Of all the things that could have cropped up in your final month on the UGA beat, there's no way this could have ever even been imagined.

You've been great for the fans, great for the program, and the Phils are getting a treat.

Good luck this weekend; hopefully this mess in Athens is (somewhat) resolved before then.

Hale, you will be missed.

Damon, sorry but if the account is accurate, you have to go.

Congrats on the wedding.

This story just goes to show life truly is stranger than fiction.

There are no words to express how much I will miss your daily blogs. Even though I have never met you, I feel very much like a close friend has died.

I'm with Ben...a good marriage is the best thing that can happen to a man, but remember a "happy wife is a happy life!"

Best of luck with your new job and your marriage.

Just know you will always have a home among your faithful readers.

ozam, I didn't say that; heyberto did. I can concur with heyberto, though. Marriage is an absolute blast.

Thanks, guys. The soon-to-be wife isn't so happy with Damon Evans today, but what are ya gonna do? I'm guessing his day is going much worse than mine.

Anyway... just from what I'm being told, expect things to get a little ugly after this press conf.

Uh oh!! I hope that Damon can survive this but I do not think your last comment sounds promising.

Even if he survives this is a bad thing for him and UGA.

David get the story and then get the heck out of there. You should be living the celebration of your marriage not the seamy underside of sports.

God's speed on your marriage and new assignment; we'll really miss your blog.

This is a truly sad situation. Damon has done a very good job as AD at UGA. Can you imagine Damon addressing 93,000 fans about drinking and driving during the fourth quarter of home football games. He'll get more cat calls than Mike Adams.

David, I pray you will have a blessed marriage.
I really appreciate your excellent work here. You will be missed greatly. Of all these type blogs I have ever read I enjoyed and learned from yours the most.
May the Lord richly bless you and your family.

David congrats on the nuptuals! Thoughts and prayers with you and your new bride.

As far as Damon goes, I know it looks horrible. I am not one to throw stones having messed up more than my fair share of stuff. I've always heard rumors of "stuff" around him but again they were just rumors.

Take the freaking UGA jet home instead of BMW-ing around the ATL with some 28 yr old strange, allegedly. He's a good man and a good AD but obviously this is a horrible lapse in judgement and if it is anything like my life, this isn't the first time he has had these judgement lapses.

David,

Congrats on the marriage...and a very sad, begrudging congrats on the new job. As all the posts before have said - you will be missed! However, if this curse thing is true - good riddance to ya!! ;)

Best of luck in your future :)

Does this count for our Fulmer Cup standings? I'm really thinking we could run away with this thing.

The Hale curse haunts Dawg fans until the very end!

Maybe they ought to let Evans hang around until the end of the 2011 season. That way, if things don't improve, they can unload Evans, Richt and Bozo at the same time. That will enable "them" to say that they are "rebuilding the program" with no baggage.

So how many of you would resign from your job if you got a DUI?

Assume its not a resign or be terminated scenario, strictly your call.

And don't tell me how your job is lower profile and less important, I'm taking that as a given.

I'd go the rehab route myself. It seems to work for our elected representatives.

He's the public face of UGA athletics. He tells students and alumni to not drink and drive. He represents UGA.

He really has to go. If it's your job to project an image of the university and you can't obey the law, you need to go.

David, I hope you figure out how to balance work and marriage. It's a delicate balance. Just ask Damon Evans:)

Congrats on the impending wedding David! As many have posted, it was the best thing to happen in my 34 year life.

I will truly miss your timely updates and thought provoking questions on the blog, and wish you all the best in Delaware.

As an aside, I have a friend that knows the woman that was in Evans' car, and according to this person, they have been seeing each other for a few months. This person is lamenting that the hookup for UGA tix looks to have vanished.
