The Fallout

I've mentioned before that I think Dennis Felton has gone a bit overboard in trying to play up the silver linings for Georgia this year. That wasn't an issue after Saturday's debacle that turned out to be Georgia's worst regular-season home loss in 14 years, and had it not been for three 3s down the stretch, would have been worse than that.

Here's what the team had to say...

DENNIS FELTON

On the team's biggest problem...

"We just did not compete with the kind of toughness that's required. We were very, very soft. It was a soft effort, and that's the storyline of this game."

On why they lacked mental toughness...
"I don't know, but we're going to work to get to the bottom of it. All I know is that's been one of our issues all along. We haven't gotten as tough as we want to be or need to be. Our leaders need to lead the way, our captains, our oldest guys, in terms of bringing that toughness to our team every day and developing that as a habit. But we've got to just go to work and overcome that."

TERRANCE WOODBURY

On the team's problems...
"It was definitely a lack of effort and just heart tonight. From the tip, we didn't come out with the energy we needed to come out with, and Kentucky being as good a team as they are, they took that and ran with it. We dug ourselves a hole and never got a chance or gave a chance to ourselves to get back in the game. It was a real soft effort from us. We're going to have to just learn from it."

On his confidence...
"I'm confident as ever still in my team and myself, but I feel like everybody else is not as confident as we need to be in each other. That's something where we've got to make changes on our team and get it together. We've still got a long season left. It's only three SEC games we've played, but it's not going to get any easier and we've got to tough it out."

TREY THOMPKINS

On the team's attitude...

"Today was just a lack of execution and a lack of heart in the first half. Everybody has to take it personally. We've got some guys not buying into the system."

Sounds like a coach who knows he's in his final few games... and players who know that as well.

This team (even in the infancy of the season) has totally quit on Felton!
