Here's my overview of the SEC meetings this week, which proved eventful and somewhat contentious.
The winners, in my opinion, of the week that was:
- Mike Slive
- The Georgia-Florida axis
- SEC basketball
- Steve Spurrier
- More cowbell
- Bobby Petrino
And the losers:
- Football coaches in general
- Nick Saban
- Houston Nutt
- Dan Mullen
- Graduate students
- The beach

In other news, two things to watch in Georgia sports today:
- The baseball team, which staved off elimination on Saturday, faces Creighton in an elimination game on Sunday at 4 p.m. If the Bulldogs win, they'll face Oregon State at 9 p.m., and a win in that one would force a single game on Monday for the right to advance to the NCAA Super Regionals.
- The Georgia men's golf team is in the NCAA championship match, and faces Augusta State on Sunday. Here's the story on that.

How did Spurrier come out a winner this week? He has jumped on the the oversigning bandwagon and if Slive is a winner then the oversigners must be on the other side of the ledger. Surely you are not declaring him a winner on the basis of his grandstanding pay for play scheme, which he knew full well was a farcical stunt that had ZERO chance at being legally enacted.
Seth, how about some love for Marta Silva Zamora, the UGA women's golfer who won the Honda award as top golfer in the nation?
I know not too many people care, but we should celebrate the other sports as well when they enjoy success...
Dawgs win the afternoon game, but lose the late game (after lots of 9th inning drama) The regional played out like the season. Stumble out the gate, look great at times, come up just short at the end. Glad I got to see them play.

Seth -- I read it, I guess mine was more of a rhetorical question. Not sure how doing lame publicity stunts makes one a winner, but I guess such subjective declarations are just that -- subjective.
