Frix Gets Scholarship
From UGA release...
University of Georgia walk-on snapper Ty Frix has been awarded a scholarship by Bulldog head coach Mark Richt.
"Ty has done an outstanding job with all our snapping duties," said Richt. "He's been an instrumental part of one of the top punt and field goal/extra point teams in the country. Ty is well deserving and we're very pleased to award him the scholarship."
Frix, a redshirt sophomore from Calhoun, is expected to start for the Bulldogs for the second consecutive season in 2010. A Biomedical Engineering major who was valedictorian at Calhoun High School, Frix snapped to two of the top special team performers in the nation last season in All-American punter and Ray Guy Award winner Drew Butler and All-SEC placekicker and Lou Groza Award finalist Blair Walsh.
Frix is a second generation snapper for Georgia. His father, Dr. Mitch Frix , was the starting snapper for the Bulldogs in 1981 and 1982 and was a member of three SEC championship teams, one national title team and three Sugar Bowl teams.

whats up on that mailbag mr. hale?
Congratulations, Frix!!!
A funny headline would be "Frix becomes beneficiary of Mettenberger and Robinson's bad behavior."
I was in class with his Dad, and if he's anything like Mitch, he's damn good dawg!
Congrats! Nice to see guys who do things the right way get rewarded. Sucks that it takes someone else messing up for it to happen but nice to have a silver lining when they do. For all the accolades that Walsh and Butler get it is nice to have a snapper that we don't have to worry about as well, even if he doesn't get the pub the other two do.
Good for Ty..he also has a 3.9 GPA in Bio Engineering. What a great representation of a student athlete.
David you have been noticeably low posting the last few days. What's up? Still on vacation or just a slow news week?
