On every long touchdown run, we had someone in position to make the tackle, they just didn't. Now these fundamentals can be blamed on Martinez (and the other D coaches) but I think the scheme was fine against tech's offenseAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6162716793249150680.post-16596254674856042602008-11-30T12:07:00.000-05:002008-11-30T12:07:00.000-05:00On another note, you mentioned how empty the stude...On another note, you mentioned how empty the student section was. You should do an article on the student ticket policy which does not allow all students to attend the games. One student told me this weekend that he doubted new graduates would feel inclined to contribute to the university when the university essentially told them we do not need you nor your money. The University is taching them they can have a life and not attend footaball games.

When I attended GA, all students received tickets to the football games. During the Durham(?) basketball years, they had to beg the students to attend basketball games once the they restricted student seats to a small number and the alumni quit going to the games.

School is for studends and not for grownups. If it is for grownups and is a business, then the coaches should be treated as employees of a business.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6162716793249150680.post-80138944076926978882008-11-30T12:06:00.000-05:002008-11-30T12:06:00.000-05:00Brian, I completely agree with you. I suppose Martinez is feeling threatened, but rarely do you see a coach hang his players out to dry like that. That's as disturbing to me as was the play on the field.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10827319003346222886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6162716793249150680.post-40717581472727083262008-11-30T10:34:00.000-05:002008-11-30T10:34:00.000-05:00I really don't like Coach Martinez blaming the def...I really don't like Coach Martinez blaming the defense's failure on the players. If you devise a plan that your players aren't capable of executing, then its not a good plan as he claims. Coach M needs to take some responsibility. I would have liked to see him say, "I thought we had a good plan, but I guess we didn't do a good enough job getting the players ready."

Its his job to know his personnel and to know what they're capable of. He had two weeks to develop a plan to stop the triple option with the players he had, and he failed to do so. Don't blame the defense's failure on their lack of execution or the scout team's inability to mimic the GA Tech offense - be a leader and blame yourself.Brianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09167901259829039213noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6162716793249150680.post-17230037744380001682008-11-30T10:19:00.000-05:002008-11-30T10:19:00.000-05:00because he's still used to having a defense that c...because he's still used to having a defense that can get a stop when they need to...

plus maybe he forgot that we burned a timeout figuring out which wide receivers we wanted on the field...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6162716793249150680.post-31907049738211211312008-11-29T23:36:00.000-05:002008-11-29T23:36:00.000-05:00Why didn't Coach Richt call for an on-sides kick a...Why didn't Coach Richt call for an on-sides kick after UGA's last TD?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
