You cannot learn anything from Finebaum. His rant is triesome. When I drive through Alabama and wanrt to hear football discussion, there are other alternatives. His crusade against CMR tells you all you really need to know about his character (or lack thereof.)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6162716793249150680.post-26214226333287271492010-04-27T22:54:40.104-04:002010-04-27T22:54:40.104-04:00If you think Gentry Estes is a homer---try listeni...If you think Gentry Estes is a homer---try listening to the Finebaum show!!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6162716793249150680.post-36839820672427125892010-04-27T16:21:36.863-04:002010-04-27T16:21:36.863-04:00Typical Alabama bravado and chest-bumping from the...Typical Alabama bravado and chest-bumping from the Bama writer. Nice program but they are in sufferable when riding high. To think that defense won't suffer is beyond obnoxious, gues he doesn't realize recruiting rankings are among the worst indicators of champions. But they are loaded on offense and the West doesn't look that strong so it may be Atlanta before they get their 2nd loss of the year. Would love to see Arky nail them and, depending on timing of injuries. This guy forgets a mediocre Auburn and TN pushed them to the hilt last year. Stay modest Bama fans, people might be able to stand you.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6162716793249150680.post-12597015087173567852010-04-27T13:12:41.089-04:002010-04-27T13:12:41.089-04:00The degree of developed talent they have at Alabam...The degree of developed talent they have at Alabama is a tribute to Saban's recruiting and coaching. It took 3 years for our underachieving OL to become viable. Alabama just seems to plug and play. I do believe that the defense will fall off some, maybe from #1 in the nation to #9. I hope I am wrong but its hard to argue with Saban's track record as a college coach. Go Dawgs!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6162716793249150680.post-46132340359857687952010-04-27T11:11:59.944-04:002010-04-27T11:11:59.944-04:00Wow, I expected them to be confident but this beat...Wow, I expected them to be confident but this beat writer is a bit overconfident. As Anonymous said, you don't just plug in 9 new starters on D and expect the defense to put up excellent numbers. It doesn't matter if they are 5 star, 4 star, or worse, they will all be new to the starting lineup and adjustment and growing pains will ensue. Are they still the favorite? Probably. But to replace the top notch talent they had with unproven players and not miss a beat? Hmmm... Not so sure about that.Taylorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10124340163361973319noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6162716793249150680.post-13731331989984123792010-04-27T10:12:57.781-04:002010-04-27T10:12:57.781-04:00I know Bama has plenty of talent returning overall...I know Bama has plenty of talent returning overall, and plenty of experienced talent on the offensive side of the ball. They have recruited really well lately.

However, replacing 9 of 11 starters on defense is going to be a difficult task regardless how talented the new starters might be. Losing the veteran presence of experienced players DOES have a significant impact, and Bama will experience some growing pains this season because of it. Of course, no Bama fan will ever admit that to you in 1,000 years.

Bama's offense should be dynamite, but expect defensive inconsistency and question marks on STs to rear their heads for the Tide this season eventually. Plus, it's virtually impossible for a coach (even a deity like The Great Nick Saban) to keep kids motivated enough to post back-to-back NCs. That's why it happens so rarely. Remember at this point last year everyone practically gave UF the 2009 NC.

Bama doesn't have great opposition in the SEC West, so they should certainly play in the GA Dome. However, I think they'll drop at least one or two games this season.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
